The Background

Based in the heart of Sunderland's city centre, The Kathleen Davis Centre for the Performing Arts can cater all your Performing Arts requirements. It is one of the North East's leading performing arts establishments, with a highly qualified professional staff justifiably proud of its record and achievements. Formed in 1976 it has developed from a successful dancing school, into a highly reputable centre for the performing arts covering all forms of training connected with the professional theatre to include dance, drama, singing, musical theatre and technical theatre. Its premises in High Street West has a main purpose built, sprung floor dance studio of 2000 square feet, in addition to large drama and singing studios its own wardrobe department and a technical theatre workshop. It can offer courses for all ages and abilities and is proud of its partnership with the City of Sunderland College which enables it to offer a free full time performing arts course to students 16 years and over who wish to embark on vocational training leading to careers in Professional Theatre, future entry into university or a career in teaching.
